Zodiac MK II 1985

Greetings all, I'm looking at a use 1985 Zodiac MK II model number 2424. The boat is located a couple hours away, so before proceeding any further with the seller, I want to make sure of the boats composition. I'm only interested in all Hypalon construction, reading through the forums I am unsure if this year is all Hypalon, or Hypalon tubes with a PVC floor. It is grey in color and the full code on the transom ID card is XDC JF458 F485, and it was made in France. Does anyone have any info on 1985 Mark II's? Thanks for your help.

I could be either.

Zodiac started to experiment with PVC in the 1980s.

It is probably hypalon.

Post a good closeup picture of a seam to confirm.

Here is a pic of the front of the boat. I'm requesting a detailed pic of the seam where the floor connects with the tubes. I think the tubes are Hypalon from the look of the overlapping seam...

Thanks office888....Do you think the floor is Hypalon as well? I read somewhere that Zodiac made mixed boats in the 80s or 90s....Hypalon tubes and PVC floors. Not sure if this is fact or fiction, but don't want to drive a few hours to find out the boat has a substandard floor material. I'm still waiting on the floor seam picture and will post this when I get it.

To my knowledge, they only crossglued PVC accessories. D-ring patches, spray hoods, grommetted lifeline material, and inflatable keels... I don't think they did anything extensive.

I dunno though. These boats pre-date me. I'm a youngin' who happens to be good with a burnishing spatula.

RIBase
Zodiac also used something called Strongon (PVC) in at least part of the 80's, which they glued with overlaps like Hypalon. My old Zed34 was made of it. The only real way to tell is the sanding or glue tests.

That is a Mark II Grand Raid. Almost certainly all hypalon.
