Zodiac typhoon 360 engne mounting need help!

Hello all,

I have recently purchased a Zodiac Typhoon 360, which has been great. I am currently running a brand new suzuki 15hp EFI engine short shaft that, I will admit is pretty nice it started first pull right out of the box. I noticed when mounting the engine the cavitation plate is 2 inches from the bottom of the Keel. This seems really low. I can shim it up to about a 1 inch gap, but if I want it level with the keel I will have to raise the transom. Is this normal for Zodiacs and before I start cutting is the performance gain going to be that much better?
