You was in Italy with your Rib?

Was at the lake from 10th august till 23rd august and at that point still with my SIB.
My SIB was not that well on the lake with the waves being a bit to much to really speed it up.... One of the reasons for me to definataly go for a RIB.
But none of the boats speeding over there were doing a maximum of 20knts, a lot were going much much faster every day. That's exactly what I liked so much about the lake!

This is a page of the book for the ship's Italian license
and these are the rules to be respected in Garda lake
If people do not respect does not mean that there aren't rules...

Lake Garda is a stunningly beautiful place. Wind really blows strong in the north around Riva Del Garda/Torbole. You can hire RIBs to play with in Limone.
Need to go back again, fantastic place. 100m deep wall dive off the marina in Riva Del Garda. Maybe next year. :-)

Naughty naughty - 23.5kts - but don't worry I now nothing!!!
Very nice pictures - really beautiful.
A mate of mine was at Lake Garda a few weeks ago - he wanted to hire a boat but apparently you need some sort of licence - is that right?

As far as I understood you can hire a RIB or other sportsboat with a maximum of 40hp without any kind of license.
But when you want more, you'll need your international boatlicense, if I call it correctly now.....

NOT 'THE NEED BOATING LICENSE
To operate any vessel (ie units of length not exceeding 24 meters) if the power
up to the main engine of the vessel does not exceed 25 Kilowatt (40.8 hp) and if it is within 6 miles
from the coast.
In practice this means that you can lead a RIBt with an engine on the 40 cv or a sailboat,
giant also provided less than 24 meters and featuring a small auxiliary engine.
But remaining within 6 miles from the coast
You ALWAYS NECESSARY BOATING LICENSE:
when boat is equipped with an engine with power
up to more than 25 Kilowatt, 40HP
When practicing water-skiing or similar activity, even if the engine has a power ridiculous.

Where can one find out more info on boating on Lake Garda; is there something similar to Reeds almanac for the Italian lakes? I'd love to take a boat down there for a holiday some time.

I had a couple of visits to a camp site at San Biagio which is on a thin peninsula at the south end and with a small island just offshore. This was walkable to depending on the water levels in the lake. The second visit showed much less water than the first when you would be up to waist and competing with boats which anchored off!!
Boat rentals with ICC nearby and the site had moorings a few yards offshore.
Its easy enough to spend some days visiting the towns on the lake , swimming etc
highly recommended
If you decide to tow anything large do not use the west side of the lake to get to the south -the winding road is a nightmare with rock overhangs ,coaches in the middle of the road...

hallo Phil
it is nice to read that you were in the island of s' Biagio
I often go with my rib in this place
what Phil says is true !
do not Venture with the trailer in the north-west
the ideal area is southwest rich of Parkings
(however if you decide to come to the area send me a message and I will be happy to help)

I was at the campside Plani di Clodia in Lazise this summer.
Still with my old sib...
But I couldn't find any place to leave the boat except at bouy allong the coast of the lake.
The first day I heared some horror stories about boats being stolen or damaged etc.
I couldn't find any marinas near Lazise where I could stall the boat for two weeks, without paying an enourmous amount of money.
Later I found out that the marina in Peshera, in the south east point of the lake, had an quit good affortable marina. Think I will use this next year when I plan on going there again, but then with my RIB.
Still would like to know what nice affortable marinas there are along the lake, near campsides, and where you can launch your boat from the trailer??

Hi there,
i used to go to Lazise on a campground. Its name is Du Parc. You can visit the place in the net with google: camping du parc. There you will find a slip to slip the boat yourself , or you let the employees do for a drink with a small tractor .Near the camp 200M the boatservice MODENA with a crane, where the fat boats can be lifted into lake. The buoys in front of the campground, you can rent for 9-12€ the day.
There are a lot of stories about stolen cars, boats and so on. Almost people with old junk cars tell these and fear of that. Italians in the north live on a very high standard, so a SIB will only be stolen by other tourists and tourists are everywhere in the world. My opinion after 25years visiting gardalake .Most of the SIBs are on a handtrailer and the owners store them beside the caravan or mobilhome. But its not the fear of stolen boats , but of the fees for the buoys.
To rent a Rib, up to 40HP its without permission. Cost are round 180€ /day for a 4,5 Meter
Rib with 40HP. There are offers round 300€ for 3 days.
so far

hi
I'm in the south west of the lake near Manerba.
J have a 6 mt RIB with trailer all the year in this place and it is not expensive: www.nauticaliliana.it
in this place there are many english, nederland, germany people.
the place is guarded and covered .
and is near to many camping.
if you want you can get a daily rate with the service of launches and slipways at a slide with trailer.
If you are interested in coming to the island in front of Manerba s. Biagio Alert me and j speak of you to Liliana
