I want to change my Zeppelin ( french rib), and keep my 40 hp Yamaha 4 strokes.
For the moment, i'm interested by the Solent 4.60 and the Ribcraft 4.80.
So, i would know the differences between these 2 ribs.
Is the Ribcraft hull deeper "v" than The Solent?
In "rough sea", which the best, drier, faster?
Is my Yamaha 40 enough for these ribs, and which speed can i hope?
In fact, i'm looking for all informations on these 2 ribs....
Excuse me for my English (i'm French....).
Thank you for all, your forum is great!!
Hi Tom, where abouts are you based? I'm in Nantes. There is a Humber importer in France if that is the reason for looking at those makes. Humber have the reputation of being built for diving. It doesn't mean that the others aren't suited.
Ou est ce que t'es basé ? J'habite Nantes. Il y a un importeur Humber en France si c'est pour ces raisons que tu te dirige vers ces marques. Humber ont la reputation d'être construit pour la plongée. Ca ne veut pas dire que les autres ne sont pas adapté.
If Rib.net members want info about whats going on in France or they're planning to come over for thier hols (on a rib of course) i'll try and give some replies. There are a few "froggies" about, n'est pas Antoine ?

Yes, you're right!

The french Humber owner club is ready to help you!
Inland slipways (cales de mise a l'eau) and parking etc
Hi all, not sure I'm on the right thread, but has anyone any recent information about slips and car/trailer parking for the northern French inland waterways? I note that the coastal slips appear to be free - the Carte Fluviale guides show lots of cales, but no contact or other details. I plan a 2 week trip in June, but don't want to get stuck up some country lane with boat and trailer to find slip out of use/locked etc.
I have been on the Cap Breizh site, which is good, but with limited inland slip locations.
Thanks, Phil - I was orginally thinking of starting in Flanders, then into Northern France and possibly the Seine, but am somewhat put off by having to travel the Grand Gabarit, in company with 3000 tonnes peniches... However, I've just had a nice reply from the Yacht Club Anseremme, on the Meuse near Dinant - slip and parking free, beautiful cruising area, so I may start there..
However, any info you have would be most welcome (Boatlaunch site has hardly anything on France)
Regards, Howard.
not an area I am familiar with on water although it looks wonderful on the yacht club site; you might consider posting on one of the ybw.com boards--there always seems to be someone who knows what you need albeit not a rib site
