2stroke

Hey everyone I’m new to rib boats and just bought a Bison marine 13ft rib. I was going to put. 15hp 2s on it but one of my friend said 2s are banned on certain rivers and lakes. Is this correct! Also I’m looking for some insurance for it as I’ve heard that some waterways require you to have it. Who do you guys use and what’s the average price for third party please.
Sorry for all the questions
🙈

Hi and welcome to the forum.

I am aware some lakes ban any engines but I'd not come across any that are only banning 2-strokes.

You probably know their sale was banned to private folks from around 2007 so not an easy new buy and priced well up on the used market.

The easiest insurance is Craftinsure. You do it all online in a matter of minutes and they email the documents. Cost depends on total outfit value but around £50 is typical for comprehensive.

That’s great. Thank you for the info. I’ll look into the insurance right away. I can’t wait to get on the water and spend some great days out in it.

Hi and welcome,

I know Bison describe it a RIB but it's not, it's a SIB.

When you use the Craft insure website, don't put the class down as RIB as you will be paying over the odds. Put it down as "sib" or motor.
