Best boating location?

Hi
I have a 6 meter Ribeye which I love and which I travel around with a fair bit, just got back from Mylor on the Fal estuary in Cornwall usually based in Eastbourne or Newhaven but am not that keen on the english channel, its a bit boring and now the familly all have girl/boyfriends I am sometimes a bit short of a boating companion.

Mylor is fantastic with coves, creeks and the whole of the south cornish coastline to explore including the beautiful Helford River. If anyone can suggest a good friendly place to keep the rib (on the water) within an hour or two of Eastbourne which matches the Carrick Roads on the Fal, then please let me know. Might be a bit of a tall order!

Hi Shelagh,
Welcome to Ribnet !
I reakon your probably about 1.5 hrs from Portmouth, This give you a fantsatic starting point for days and days of exploring the Solent, Isle of Wight, Southampton water, Portmouth harbours, Chichester Harbour, and all of the Many ports along the way. It also means whatever the prevailing wind, there is usally some where you can head for a lea shore.
Where ever you go hope you have fun !

Hi

Thank you for your welcome. I did a course once in Port Solent and I have sailed out of Chichester Marina - which I seem to remember took ages to get to the sea! Do you think Port Solent, or Gosport or Hayling Island - there seems to be a lot to choose from now I look at the area and it would be fun to go to the Isle of Wight. Some one said you can float right up to the pub and ice cream van in Bosham on a high tide!

Hi and welcome to RIBnet. I too would recommend Portsmouth as a good place to explore The Solent. We have listed a few of the more popular destinations (within a short distance from Portsmouth harbour) on a page on our website Places To Visit From KB Dry Stack
Hope it helps.

Out of Christchurch harbour across to Poole or Studland or Weymouth.

If your in Poole try round the back of all the islands loads of nice views and scenery there
