Hi all,
Just a quick note to say "Hi" and look forward to taking part in the various discussions here!
Recently took and obtained my PB2 in the Algarve (Rob Harris of algarveboatcourses.com is an excellent instructor if you're ever down that way!) as a way into boating for leisure and fishing with the family during our regular visits to our holiday place near Lisbon.
I've applied for the ICC just in case the Portuguese authorities prefer it over the RYA PB2.
While there, I've purchased (from my brother-in-law) his Zodiac Yachtline 480 (Johnson 70HP) from 2005. He's looked after it very well and it's always out of the water, hosed down, garaged when not in use. Seemed a good option since we know the boat well and if I'm not sure of anything, I'll call him!
Have no clue whether it's a deluxe model (what's the difference anyway?) but it's got all the cushions, bimini top, enclosed fuel tank (are there any with open fuel tanks?), lockable this and that etc.
I only knew he was selling it after I returned so I'm looking forward to my next visit to get the log books/manuals etc. for the "full specs". I think he also has one of those banana things you tow (with the kids on) so I'll make sure he throws that in as well for a bit of fun
Anyway, look forward to getting into boating a little more in the future. Definitely fed up with just fishing off the rocks when I'm in Portugal!
The only problem I'm now left with is that the boat will be in my gagage (on the trailer) 3 Kms from the marina and hire cars don't tend to come with tow hooks! ...
Best,
Gary.
