Hello

Just a quick hello to all. I've joined the forum to gain experience from you guys and learn as much as I can. I'm currently looking for a SIB for inshore fishing etc so have no real experience of them. I'm choosing a SIB due to work commitments and ease of use when I'm home.

Hi Sol, and welcome to the forum. There is plenty of information here to get you started; it has been a good guide for me. I have owned 4 Sibs over the years, from Honwave, Lodestar, Suzumar and Zodiac, all great fun and problem-free. Smaller Sibs can be light weight and portable, but there is a simple 40/40/40 rule for you to consider: A 3.6m Sib weighs about 40kg, an aluminium floor version can add up to 40kg more and a 15-20hp 4-stroke can be up to 40kg. There's obviously gear to consider beyond that. With good intentions to pack them away and save space, all mine have ended up on trailers!

Thanks for the advice I'm looking at either second hand or brand new. I won't be parting with my money until I can get exactly what I want. I've just been to see a friend who has gone down this route and he fully enjoys it. So I will be going to see him again to have a look at his set up one night.

You are right to take your time deciding exactly want you want. I am impatient and react like a kid in a candy shop every time I view a boat, hence 4 Sibs, 3 Ribs and 5 hard boats in the last 10 years! Good luck and dont forget to use the forum for opinions and help.
