Hello from BC!

Hi folks!

I just joined the SIB family with a Facebook marketplace purchase. I wanted a project for winter and plan on getting out on the local lakes and ocean inlets next summer.

Now, I know very little about this other than it is a Zodiac brand from the late 90s or early 00s era. The plaque is unfortunately missing so I am working on IDing it which led me to the forum!

Here are some photos;

Looking forward to learning from and reading this forum.

Cheers!

Hi and welcome to the forum.

I owned a 70s MK.1 and yours looks a little later so perhaps 80/90s but I wouldn't have put it as late as the 00s. The ring patches on the bow are added and the transom is lifted to fit a long shaft outboard, not ideal.

Yeah, the 00's were a little hopeful but I was going on the 2nd hand info of the previous owners' son.

Is this a Grand Raid MkII in your opinion?

For it to be a Grand Raid it would have D tow rings on the bow, below the rubbing strake, inter-communicating valves, lace cuff all round, no spray deck, etc. if it’s hypalon, take off one of the valves, as colour of material will be darker inside. PVC will be same colour both sides.

OK so if it doesn't have those, what are you suggesting the model of my boat is? I'm asking genuinely as I do not know myself.

I'll get it unpacked this weekend and have a look at the things you mentioned above.

Ok I'm going to take a punt on a mid-late 80s Mk.2C. The Mk.1/Mk.2 were not model or age related but referred to length. The Mk.2 being a longer version of the Mk.1 which I had and I think was about 3.1m.
