Hello from Berkshire

Have just bought a Humber Assault 5m having had other boats for many years. I had a Bayliner 1750 before upgrading to a Rinker Fiesta Vee 240 "Sports Cruiser" 9 years ago. I love the big boat but having it on the river is not the same as a smaller boat in terms of fun. Have ventured out on the Humber in Chichester Harbour so far and have been very pleased with it. Looking to get out around the Solent over the next few weeks once I have sussed out slipways etc. Looking at Camber or Lee on Solent but any advice appreciated, I understand I need permission to cross the shipping channel when leaving Portsmouth.

Hi daveb47, welcome. We go out in the Solent and and launch from the public slip at Mudeford Quay, Christchurch. Can be a bit tricky at low tide but recovering the trailer after launching and recovery is easy enough with a length of rope between car and trailer!
It also gives you instant access to Christchurch Bay, the Solent and IOW, plus Christchurch Priory. There is a great pub - The Haven Inn right next to the slipway serving excellent food and ales and the quayside is a real hive of activity during the holiday season. I highly reccomend.

Steve
