Hello from Iceland

Ahoy there. I really want to get into the RIB hobby and my wife´s family has a summer house on really small Island, located in Breidafjordur in Iceland. I have occasionally borrowed a small SIB(3.6m with 15hp Selva) from my father in law and I love it on the water.

I have the opportunity to buy a used Zodiac Milpro, 600 SRMN from 2007 with a four stroke Yamaha 80F(It was a MOB for some years on a freight ship). I am wondering if its a good a idea to start with such a boat and what to look for before buying. Also, can these tube be restored to former glory ?

Welcome to the forum.

What a fantastic location.

From the pictures the tubes look OK - all the handholds and rubbing strakes etc seems to be well attached. There are a number of tube cleaners that do a good job. August Race have a good reputation.

The hull also looks OK although there is a bit of damage on the stem which could be easily sorted and then covered with a Keelguard or similar.

The most expensive bit is the engine so it would be worthwhile making sure that works properly.

Going from a SIB to a RIB is a slightly different style of boating. With a SIB, you can bring it ashore whereas with a RIB, you tend to anchor off slightly but if you are happy with that, it looks like a good boat.
