Hello from Newcastle

Recently bought my first RIB, in fact my first ever boat. Totally new to all this so will no doubt be asking for lots of advice.

Hi SteveW

Great knowledge on here shouldn't see you stuck for info.
Can I ask, do you trailer your Avon. If so where do you plan to launch?

Cheers, Stevem

Yes its trailered. At the moment it's in storage at Belford where I have a caravan so looking at Belford and Spittal, but also going to have a look at Newbiggin and have applied for a permit for there.

I launch my sib from Newbiggin. I've seen larger boats launch from there but not at low tide without the tractor. Not saying it can't be done with the right set up, just not seen it. Think mid water zone is fine but there is soft sand getting from the concrete ramp to the mid tide zone.
Let me know how you get on if you get sorted.

So high tide is best then at Newbiggin. Do you know how much they charge to launch with the tractor?

Personally i think launch mid water, go out, return mid water for easier recovery. At least until you find your feet. Think the tractor is part of the fishing club and around £100 per year. Ask at the boat storage yard for exact details. You will still need a 4x4 to get across the soft sand at the concrete ramp if you try without the tractor.

Hi SteveW,
Welcome to the forum.
We use the tractor launch at Beadnell. Nice 'n' easy, sheltered and not tide dependant. £25 per go or £450 a year.
