Hello from West Sussex!

Hi guys! I'm Joe and I'm new to the world of boats! I've recently completed a RYA Level 2 powerboat course and so I decided to get myself a SIB to start out. I got a Wetline 450HD (aluminium floor panels) with a Mariner 8HP outboard, plus all the extras, anchor, lifejackets, Imray chart and fuel tank! I hope to learn many things from this forum, like I already have!

Welcome to the forum (and boating.)

4.5 meter with an 8hp? I don't think you're going to get everything out of that hull that it is capable of.

What is the max hp rating on the data plate on the transom? You probably want at least 75% of that number.

As an aside, I'd get rid of the over-tube tie down (abrasion, eventually), and go with one on either side of the transom straight(ish) down to the trailer, and one or two at the front (one forward, one straight down.) I'd also reconfigure the trailer bow stop to contact the tube, and equip it with a piece of carpeted bunk.

Have fun with the new boat;

jky

I've gone for a 8HP because I was starting off, I will once I get more expienced upgrade to a 20 or 30hp (30hp being the most on the data plate). I will sort out the trailer and tie downs at some point soon

Good for you. Get out on the water and enjoy yourself!
