Hello. I've got a quick question

Hi I'm Dave,

Recently got my hands on a zodiac 270.
I wanted to know if changing the valves on the tubes to match the floor valves is
1 a good idea
2 an easy job to remove the valve backing connector through the hole.

I wanted to do this so I have a single attachment to inflate the full boat instead of 2.

Thanks in advance

Hi and welcome to the forum from another David.

Usually the small plastic Zodiac adaptor from the smaller to larger size just hangs on a cord from the end of the hose and takes seconds to swap over. Changing valves to achieve a single size is a bit overkill.

Hi Fenlander / David :-)

As its just a push fit, not the twist lock they seem like a far less durable valve than the floor valves was my thought process for changing them and the fact the twist locks are much easier as a one man operation.
The issue is though I do not want to just drop the old basket into the tube. There must be an easy way of getting the rear of the valve basket out without witch craft

You could break the old inner part of the valve so that it fits out the hole, but you'll still be faced with the issue of installing something new. There's no way to get the valves in/out non-destructively. It's a lot of effort for a very small payoff in convenience.
