Welcome back... although you never left really... more just dipping a toe in gently over the past year or so. Am I right in thinking you're the chip shop guy near Oban?

Ahh see where you are Paul. What a great area to be based around for sibbing.
For most years since the mid 1980s we've travelled north of the border for our hols… initially as car tourists but then with a SIB or other smallcraft having some of our best times between Kintyre and Skye (not all in the same trip). Family logistics and responsibilities have kept us down south for three years now but that will change before long so we may just turn up in that chip shop queue.
What was needed to do your OB upgrade to 15hp... carb swap?
David

Yes very lucky it’s a fantastic place for sibbing, Loch Etive is my go too 0lace whe; the weather is poor, nice and sheltered and it’s a blast going through the falls of Lora, and if your ever up my way give us a shout, any excuse to get the sib out ,
On the engine front, yes straight carb swap, and a solas st/steel prop, really cuts it, was out other week with a mate, who’s got a T38 with a Honda bf20, and he could only just pull away at WOT , mines hit 21.7 knots , which is pretty darn good for a sib

That’s my thoughts as well, when I had the Suzuki 20 on my T38. It started to get very skittish at WOT, which was around 23knots,

Yep same sort of thoughts from me. About the maximum I've had from a 15hp (2-stroke) was 20kts on a Zodiac 3.6 air floor... 2 adults and 2 teens plus kit.
When I upgraded from a 15hp 2-stroke to the 20hp Suzuki efi in 2016 the mid range grunt was improved for popping on and off the plane working difficult sea conditions but as you found Paul the top speed was only a tiny bit more and often sea conditions prevented being at 20kts or more.
