Hi everyone

First post on the forum, having just bought a rib. We have bought a Ribtec 7.4 with a merc inboard. Configuration is perfect for us as we didn't want two or more rows of seat pods and wanted somewhere to sit with a picnic etc. Looking forward to taking possession after lockdown, hopefully March.
We live on a 44 foot Princess in a marina so we will have the rib to play with when we don't want to take our home out

Love the forum and finding some very good topics and information.

Hadn't thought of that to be fair. Big enough for our granddaughter to sunbathe on probably....

I saw that advertised on Facebook a while back. You could look at it as you basically got the boat for free, just paid the previous owner a contribution towards his 30k repair / refurbishment bills over the past 4 years!

A good buy.. much better to buy one where someone else has taking a rinsing on it already.
If it hadn’t had all that money spent on it over the last couple of years the ironic thing is it would still be worth about the same.. crazy world.

Thanks yeah it's had an astonishing amount of work and new stuff. The layout was what attracted us but like you said it's handy with all the money that has been spent. Can't wait.

It baffles me how it happens but I suppose people just get into a spiral.

Buy a 20k boat and find out the out drive is knackered. Get told that the outdrive and other work is 8k but the engine is fairly knackered too but a whole new setup is ‘only’ 17k.

Now they have 37k in it but the tubes are knackered, can’t stop now so another 8k gone.

Then next season realise the floor is knackered, but the boats ‘worth’ 45k now so have to sort it properly. 5k for the floor but then need new seats too, might as well do some other cosmetic work too. We’re well over 50k now.

Now the upholster looks crap for a 50k boat so get it all sorted for another 3 grand. Pushing 60k now...

Oh wait the boat never gets used and can’t face spending another penny on it... so time to sell it. But wait it’s only worth 20k after all this work...

I guess the trick is to make sure someone else has done the BOATing before you buy it
