Hi from Southampton

Hi Everyone,

Already posted an issue with my Outboard and had some very helpful responses.

So an official hi from me, am new to both boating and owning a RIB specifically. I have a 5.4M Avon Searider with a 1995 Two-Stroke Mercury 75HP Outboard that I purchased in August. I've already learn that owning a boat = non stop outgoings!!

I live on the South Coast and launch at Calshot Spit near Southampton.

Loved the Video of "Miami" restoring the Hyperlon Tubes on his RIB!!!

Other than that I used to be a happy bachelor, just me and my Border Terrier, but got a girlfriend a year ago and now also have 3 Ex-Battery Hens and a rescue dog from Bosnia!! And yes I'm aware there are rescue dogs in the UK but I'm just pleased I didn't arrive home to a Turkish Donkey or such like!!

Look forward to some advice and banter in my early days on here and hopefully helping others in time!

Cheers, Ben

It's probably quite wrong how easily I could read through that! A decent knife is definitely on the agenda! Going to head to the Boat Show tomorrow and pretend I know what I'm talking about!

Watch out....our resident sr guru has been known to launch from calshot :-).....and surely we may be having a curry near there soon!

It won't be long before people bump into you.

What's an SR Guru?

And for curry, it has to be at Aroma in Holbury, it's bring your own booze!! Great service and decent bit of grub too!

Cheers, Ben

Hi Ben,
I launch from Hythe, Calshot and Lymington,
Keep a look out and we can say Hi.
You'll recognise my jam sandwich easily enough...
Cheers Chris

Nice one Chris, I'll keep a look out.
I'm normally the one looking hacked off trying to fix yet another issue I'm having. Orange bottom and grey tubes.
Having had some decent advice from the engine forum am hoping this will help fix the current issue as quickly and cheaply as possible.

Also, can you recommend the best place for a service? It was serviced at Dave Crawford Marine previously.

Cheers, Ben
