Hi

Even though these boats what were sent are rejects?

When i first complained about the first boat i was told not to be rude

When i get the refund for the boat next week i will put a link on here so the rest of the forum knows what they are dealing with,So they can make a decision if the boat is faulty your going to be paying for it sent back out of your refund...Even ebay you get the full money back when faulty goods are sent out

Wish id never seen these Honwaves in the first place

Kind regards

I imagine that if you take a look at The Consumer Rights Act 2015 it will clarify the position, my recollection is that if the goods are faulty and you reject them within a set timeframe (30 day I believe) you are entitled to a full refund including postage for the original delivery and the return.

The postage is for the cheapest method offered originally so if you chose to upgrade to next day delivery for example rather than standard (if it was offered) you would only be entitled to a refund of the cost of standard delivery.

The refund generally only applies if there is a fault.

Check the Act and you’ll know for sure.
Good luck getting it resolved, I’m interested to hear who the seller is, are they a Honda Honwave dealer?

The Avon's value is a combination of its age for a retail value comparison... and what it's worth to you. That dealer scours the private ads for stock and usually uplifts about 50% over what he pays... but he's a dealer and needs a profit... and does have some very clean SIBs and outboards which might save you hunting about.

The only thing I didn't like about my Rover of the same length was the smallish tubes and flat profile bow would ship loads of water at sea compared to a higher bow Honwave.

Yes anything 4hp-10hp will be fine on this.

Avon are a division of zodiac As far as I am aware in which case haven’t gone under?

I think you’ve been very unlucky with your Honwave buying, , my experience has been the dealer was a bit casual in their approach, there was no comfort from their customer service but my boat looks just the job, could you try another dealer and ask them to check it before they send it out?

Hi

Ive just checked the Seago and lots of parts look like the Honwave and guess where they are made lol

So thats out of the question for me..Due to 2 of the boats going back..And really i could cut these things with my finger nails..And not looking for a kiddie toy

Think im going to research these Avon/Zodiacs more...My gumotex hypalon kayak knocks the socks off these PVC boats

Kind regards

I think Avon do some of the more "commercial" side of things at Zodiac now.

Re Seago I know them as a budget outfit and as long as folks have reasonable expectations they seem OK and I know folks who've had them OK for ten years... but I've also heard of them falling apart after a couple of years

If I was determined to get a Hypalon SIB then personally I'd rather get a vey good condition 5-10yr old Avon than have a budget manufacturer make a Hypalon version using their budget methods because you'll still be relying on the glue quality and craftmanship. Bear in mind Seago sell their 3.2m air floor 20% cheaper than a Honwave which gives an idea where they are in the market.

Hypalon is a good material but not the be all and end all factor in SIB choice. Our last three SIBs have been PVC... we do not abuse them but we use them freely pulling up on sand/shingle/stones as needed plus push them quite hard in lively sea states without concerns.

Re the two lengths of Avon Ivan has available... the £100 difference is nothing in the scheme of boating so if they attracted just buy the length you need.

Ive sent a email to the dealer asking how old the Avon 310 is and has it been painted any nicks etc..I want to coastal cruise with this for now then eventually pull it behind the yacht i buy,Thats if i can find a decent one...I find its old blokes selling kna =ckerd yachts lol..Even though im 54 myself ha ha

Kind regards
