I need a RIB for a summer on the Blackwater!

Hi, Am new to RIBnet.
I currently have use of friends RIB, but am now on the hunt for my own

I live over in Essex and plan on spending the summer on the Blackwater, round by Mersea and surrounding areas.

Will scan the classifieds and hunt around on eBay but if you're selling a 6m rib, with 100+ four stroke, with trailer, well looked after, no patches, good electrics, mechanics and tech, internal tank, smart trim and an A frame so i can tow a wakeboard...please do get in touch.

My budget is somewhere between £12k and £16k, and I have a couple of friends who will help me make the right choice (seeing as I'm a newbie!)

All the best, happy to know you all !

Welcome aboard and a good budget so you will get something very decent with little problem

Just a word of warning, eBay and boatsandoutboards etc are prime hunting ground for being ripped off buying a fake advert boat....be careful

Welcome to RIBnet !

Start by reading this......

http://www.rib.net/forum/f8/is-it-a-scam-39729.html

Do NOT part with any cash before you ( and your experienced friends ) check out the boat in the flesh .

Perhaps the only exception to this is an agreed small deposit to sea trial a boat ( and this would normally come off the total price if you actually bought said boat ).

You will hear from some experienced folk on here that they have bought unseen good boats , but they almost certainly know what they are doing , and have not just been lucky .

If you really like the look of a boat , even if it's up in Scotland , perhaps ask on here and someone will tell you whether it's dodgy or not.

Good Luck and Happy Boating.

Yup..as per the above. I bought my current boat unseen but was from a very reputable company with many emails back and forth etc. It is possible but I would always stand in front of it given choice

EBay and boatsandoutboards specifically have quite a few scam adverts at any one unfortunately.
