Hello, I have just bought my first RIB - Humber Destroyer 5.5m, and have read many useful posts and tips on this site - thanks for all the info.
I am collecting my boat in November so need to arrange some insurance - anyone got any recommendations for a comprehensive, good value policy?

Welcome GUMP. Is your Humber new or second-hand? Be sure to post some pics when you collect! I had an old Humber (20 yrs) and she was a great boat til we grew out of her.

As far as insurance, I use a broker in Glasgow, but that's mainly cos they were the people my Dad insured with, and they've subsequently been pretty competitive at renewal time. I also like dealing with a person rather than a call centre so that's another thing in their favour. Never had to claim though which is the proof of the pudding!

Mostly , when this topic comes up it's a question of phoning round. Have a search on the forum for Rib Insurance: you'll turn up plenty of recommendations.

The user jfriends on here is worth talking to. They may not be the absolute cheapest (and fortunately I've not had to test their claims handling) but with the very cheapest I found some odd clauses in the small print (like not being able to use the boat after dusk).

insurance

thanks for the info - I'll try Porthcawl. Has anyone had any experience of 'Craft Insure'. I had a policy from them when i had a SIB and its so easy to apply and very cheap but I don't know about claims - fortunately never had to make one.
