Welcome Neil (I assume). I'm only a sibber so normally do not get to play with the big boys on the forum but by chance we've booked two weeks at Shaldon right next to the water this July so I'll be asking boating questions about the area soon.... like will I make it over the bar and if I do we we ever get back in!

Yes the bar can be tricky depending on wind and tides but take it slow keep you bow up and you will be ok if going out a low tide keep going out past channel markes as there are rocks on the right and sand banks on left
