Welcome Bateser....a bit further up the coast at Aberdeenshire and only a 3.9 sib and 20hp efi suzuki.
Did orginally buy my set up with the idea of exploring the West coast (only managed loch Awe so far) and perhaps doing a bit of fishing off the east as well when conditions allow.
Our trips havent been cut short for various reasons so far but will eventually try the fishing as well.

Brian

Cheers bud, Loch Fyne and Loch Etive are our usual camping/fishing spots if you need any info. My mate has a 3.8 sib with 9.9 hp on it and is away to upgrade his engine, what is the 20 like? Think he is getting about 18mph.

Hi Bateser and welcome.

I've had both 2 & 4 stroke in 9.8hp on a 3.8 and 18mph is good... I tend to think in kts and that's about 15.5kts. A 20hp should bump him up to nearer 20kts so 23mph.

Never got off kellys this year when over, although we did originally plan to have a night or two on Etive as well as loch Awe.

I figure you will be aware of Donny's and a couple of other guys exploits there, and all over the west coast on youtube.

But if going early next year as we plan, any info would be great then.

For OB I think your mate is getting a decent performance out of the setup he already has, so imagine the 20 (even taking the extra weight into account) should fly.

Pushed my big heavy Volaire along fast enough for me for now, but if you see steves post below.... there is more about OB on sibs there.

I can get my Volaire and OB in the back of an estate car. I can manage my Suzuki on my own.....just....but wouldnt to carry it very far.....depends on your mates launch sites, plans, fitness etc

We are never away from Kellys thinking of heading up in the next couple of weeks and staying in the bothy if its empty. My other mate has just bought a 4m rib with a 50hp on it so he is desperate to try it out, i think he might find it hard to keep in the water as its half the weight of my rib. Should be fun and thanks for that link.

Update. Went for a 4 blade 10.3 - 13 and what a difference. Revs have came down but no tacho fitted, still hits 35mph but the torque, low speed planeing and the cruising speed has greatly improved. Will check rpm on my next outing.
