Outboard not charging battery

I went out today in my boat and the outboard which is a Yam V6 200HP 2 stroke was not charging the battery. Voltage at Chart Plotter was about 11.7 v At the battery (tested with a mete)r it was 12.4
V for most of the trip. When we finished the battery was at 12.3v so obviously not charging.

Any ideas what this could be

Thanks

Follow the steps for testing as described in the owners manual. If you don't have an owners manual it would be a good time to get one. The manual will break the tests down and give you the specifications. You will also need a volt ohm meter.

Peter

Thanks for that help. I am having great difficulty finding a manual for my engine and cannot even find info on the engine despite it being a popular model. Attached is a pic of my serial number plate. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated
