PAC 22 Mermaid Alternator.
Hi guys, does anyone have any links or advice on replacing a possible faulty alternator. I say possible as I’m busy charging the batteries prior to testing. Just would like to research options.
Thanks in advance.
Rob

Getting it rebuilt might be a cheaper and easier option.

I think it might be one of these. The link takes you to a site that is in Manchester so not too far up the road from yourself.
According to the Pac 22 manual it is a CAV AC5 24V alternator.

That’s fantastic gents. I think I may buy one and get the other reconditioned and have as a spare or for sale.

Sorry - I read your name and assumed you were Liverpool based. It's a bit further up the road from Plymouth.

Hi Guys,
I’m wondering if anyone has any knowledge with regards to the steering/tilt system for the PAC 22 stern drive. I have a photocopy of a manual (where I got it, I don’t know) but it’s missing the details I need.
I have a spare leg (in bits) and I’m hoping to replace the Rams and hoses during an overhaul of the ‘spinning end’.
Am I insane for thinking I could get the rams reconditioned? the local guys I’ve approached so far have blew me out with the use of little words!
Any advice would be much appreciated!
Any literature on the above would be epic!
I’ve tried all the links on here from previous chats etc….but I get the error 101 every time.
Thanks
Rob

I know nothing about these legs. But I had a pair of Arneson drives rebuild by HP Hydraulics in Hampshire last year. They fabricated two new rams from scratch and overhauled everything else. I’d imagine they’d be able to sort it for you. They do a lot of marine stuff.

Thanks Tim,
Did they need a lot of info? Spec etc? Or did you give them broken ones to re-fabricate?

No specs etc needed. They really know what they’re doing. They took everything apart at their workshop, told me what they found inside and then built new bits as required.

If you PM me your e-mail address I have the stern drive manual.
Simon Dann on 07764 151051 may be able to help. He rebuilt my stern drive for me.
He goes under the name of mungersdelight on Ebay and his phone number is on one of the advert pic's.
