Re Zed rib

Hi
Thanks for letting me join your forum. Im based in North Wales uk and have recently purchased my first Rib. Its a 1980 zed rib which i belive is made by zodiac, and im running a suzuki 3.5hp outboard. We had our first trip out on it this weekend and found that it was taking on water at the seam between the floor and the rib(ribs holding air perfectly) can anyone advise me what material was used to make these ribs so i can order a suitable glue to re glue these seams
Thanks in advance keith

Hi Keith and welcome.

Think you'll find you have bought a SIB not a RIB.

I know nothing about the Zed, however tete is a search function that you can use on Ribnet which may bring up results.

Try this thread:-

Hi Kieth,

I have very fond memories of 10+ years with a ZED 34 great boat - but getting very long in the tooth now.

They are PVC.

If my experience is anything to go by - you will find that every year a new bit of seam opens up and needs glueing

I took mine round Tiree Coll - and from Barra down to Mingalay - but looking back it sends shivers down my spine knowing how dodgy the old glue is on those boats

Hope you enjoy the ZED but have a good poke at those seams before you go out
