Saying Hi

Hi Guys and Girls Thought id drop by and join up
im bound to be needing advise
ive just bought myself a Honwave T32 and mariner 9.9 engine
The main reason for this is to use while in France on the Lakes in the Alps during Holidays
But were keen to find somewhere local ish that we can have a play and learn to ues it
any advise welcome

Well I can't think any river use will give you the experience you need and like us you are further from the sea than ideal... we are another 40mls inland along the A14 from Newmarket. River licence is expensive too!

So if I were you I would head off the hours run to Felixstow Ferry or another 15mins longer to Mersea Island.

My choice would be Mersea Island for better parking, facilities, slip and cafes.... and more suitable boating too for checking out a new outfit.

can you point me to rules/regulations for Mersea island
is still nice and close and hopefully inflatable friendly

Well you don't need insurance or qualifications to launch at West Mersea and it's free to use slip. Have a look over at this thread and see my last posts with description and loads of images.

Is it you on your own using the boat... or plus partner, kids etc? Do you have transom wheels and carry it in the car or is it trailed?

Hi. We are in Brightlingsea, twenty five to thirty minutes from Ipswich, full tidal slip way. Cheap car parks and lots of interesting places to go to by boat. Clacton airshow on Friday was epic.
