Southampton newcomer
Hi all,
Just thought I would say hello !
Im based in Southampton and have a mooring in Bitterne and thought I would see if there's many other people in the local area that go out regularly for leisure or a bit of fishing ?
I'm pretty inexperienced both with boating and fishing but plan to be out on the water most weekends around the solent,
Look forward to meeting you all 👍
Andy

We’re local to you, first proper run out of the season yesterday - blast down to the needles, met up with some friends and popped into lymington for lunch - could be worse

Oh wow what a nice day for it too, was it calm ? I do plan to venture over to the island once I'm more confident, both in me and the boat haha, woukd certainly like to meet up with people from time to time and learn the routes and best places to visit

Cracking conditions all day, not bikini temps but that’ll come! Lol
There’s loads of lovely bays, rivers, estuaries all round the Solent - all fairly close to Southampton water, just prepare well and experience / confidence will come with time afloat. Have you any RYA qualifications - if not get your PB2 - well worth it, see you out there, Lee

Welcome to the forum.
The Solent is a much nicer place to be when tide and wind are in the same direction which is what they were yesterday.
For exposed bits of skin, it was a combination of frostbite and sunburn but it was good to get out. We tootled round to Buckler's Hard for a picnic which was very pleasant.

I knew it would have been a lovely day yesterday to go out, I had stuff to do but was kicking myself later in the day, typically this week I don't have much on and the weather is crap, your all making me very jealous 😀

There's a few people based at Southampton Dry Stack which is on your way down the Itchen.
Southampton Water between Hythe and the Hamble is generally sheltered so you can get a bit of confidence in there before venturing further.
As Lee has said, doing your PB2 is very worthwhile.

Yes I've been looking today and seems quite reasonably priced too, I have a mooring just off cobden Bridge and live just over by the Hamble river so not a bad location, Hamble was just quite expensive for a pontoon mooring so had to go a bit further ,
Just can't wait to get out for a bit of fishing and leisure boating.
The wife is a bit nervous but I keep saying don't worry, nothing can go wrong 😆
