They did use the 70hp 3 cylinder Evinrude complete with an aftermarket kit enabling the engine to be inverted and then be restarted when righted. This was normally removed when the engines were disposed of, hence why mine came second hand with a mint flywheel they put back on.

Early atlantic 21s had the 2 cylinder 50/55 Evinrude. Had one - it did 33 knots.
