We were regular Ribsters up until 5 years ago but I changed jobs and addresses and we slowed down a bit and bought a narrow boat.
We never did get Ribbing out of our system but had to down size considerably with a Rhino Rider which was better than nothing - but not much!!
Just bought a Lomac 4 metre with a yammy 40hp 2 stroke and we are currently down at Calshot Spit going to try it out properly tomorrow.
I'm just wondering if any of the locals here know if The Lightship is still going at Haslar Marina as I remember going there several times in the past

I had a sailing experience from Haslar (early September), one of the people helping out was a waitress at the Lightship, so it was open then.

Thanks for the invite Whisper might take you up on it but we were originally going to meet my Brother who lives in Gosport. What sort of time are you going to The Folly as if the weather and sea state are good we might well change our plans?

Hi, Lightship definitely open (early till late). Wouldn't recommend the food although it's still a nice place to go.

Well that was one good weekend. Met the guys en route to AJ's Stag Do - hope it went well, sorry we didnt get over to The Folly Alex but Im sure you had a great time - certainly chose the weather right?
We went to The Lightship and contrary to several reviews found it to be just as we remembered. Food was ok and it was a nice place to be on a sunny Saturday Afternoon. We werent charged for stopping there either, although others have said it would be £8??
Main thing is our new boat went like a dream although it is only 4 metres with a 40hp we got 35 knots out of her and she still wanted to go some more. Even the Dry Suits we got off Ebay played their part - so looks like we're back in the loop!
