You will find that it makes a huge difference while out on the water though.

Since finishing this project it's done over 200nm without a hitch, maybe the lack of a bilge pump was an error but that's now sorted.
The engine just seems to get better and better. The other night myself and the missus took it down to the Green Isle on Loch Shiel, total distance coverered was 19.74nm, I popped in exactly 20l into the Barrus tank and I ran out about 20yrds from the pier, it looks like the magical 1l/nm was achieved
There is a glen down Loch Shiel I visit regularly called Glenaladale, if I take the Orkney Longliner with a Honda 15hp Il use a gallon of fuel but it takes quite a while, if I use the Rib Il use a gallon but get there in jig time.
It all seems relative.

On this searider it's the windscreen and not the tubes that has the gaffer tape.
One of the mounting holes had a crack in it which caused a weak point, it failed at Easdale, I've been having to much fun using the boat rather that fixing it.

Thats a shame did that happen while drilling it ? on mine I used self tapping roofing bolts and tap washers the (ones for your bathroom taps) which gives a slight gap between the windscreen and the console to allow water and dirt to escape.

yep, it was a drilling mishap.
I've done exactly the same, it's stainless M5 bolts with an O ring on both sides of the polycarbonate to absorb vibration and allow water to escape.

Sorry to revive an old thread from the dead but how exactly did you remove the glue from the front spray dec and all the glue residue left behind? im looking at partaking in a very similar project and there seems tobe alot more of the spraydeck seariders for sale than the military spec(what i would like to build) for sale.

The glue was softened using cellulose thinners then rubbed with a green scouring pad.
Be careful. Do not be too aggressive. Acetone will do the same thing but evaporates a lot quicker than the thinners.

They never did on mine, if you are worried you can test it on the spray dodger.
I used an absorbent rag and dabbed it on the glue, it took time but its better that than rushing it and doing damage.

ill more than likely have a whole winter to do it so i will be in no rush. I would ideally like to get a hull and engine for pittance and get brand new tubes put on but ill see what i come accross when i sell the jet ski.
I will defo be reading over this thread a few more times before i begin though.
