Us too
I ve a couple of questions for Chris re secure parking etc as for some us the distances involved probably mean we need to travel down the day before, safety list (can get all the bits and pieces but I ve learned that paddles aren't much use on a 7metre rib - but could come in handy for someone else, engine repair kit - again with an etec, thats a laptop and a large workshop). Having a black rib always seems to get me stopped by the law at these type of events so having some sort of offical safety boat stickers / flags etc would be useful.
Save all emailing Chris perhaps we could get a list of relevant questions going?

Paddles are good for retrieving people from the water. I hope we're not the odd ones out with our hard boat and 40hp.

I hope Chris doesn't mind me replying but sure he will add his comments when he gets on.
The last update I saw Chris was trying to arrange secure parking, toilets, access routes and assisted launching close to the slipway we will be using for safety boats. (I am not going to say which this is on open forum because of the security implications of the event.)
Identification flags etc for the safety boats will be provided.
Updates will be going out to everyone regestered as and when information is available so in the short term I would give Chris a bit of time to get things finalised and then communicated to everyone. As a lot of the questions are likely to be answered.
It looks like it is going to be a great event - just need to try and book good weather!
Mike

Not at the moment. However send me a PM with your contact details and anybody who comes up short of crew or without the right qualification I'll point in your direction.

Assuming people don't drop out we are OK for ribs. People who apply from now on are going on a reserve list.

David,
We are trying to arrange several slipways for different types of boats at different locations in West London. Secure boat parking, launching tractors, car parking, toilets, road closures, footpath diversions etc are on the list of things to sort out.
Paddles can be an excellent idea to get you out of trouble with 6 knots of tide and land water every bit helps!!
Each boat will get a flag to identify themselves to the PLA/Met etc.
Everybody will also get a large pack a month or two before the event stuffed full of information about the event and there will be a skippers briefing as well.
I encourage everybody to watch this video if new to the Thames - Port of London Authorities documentary about travelling on the Thames on Vimeo and to explore this website Boating on the Thames

Do you have any other hard boats (such as rigiflexes) taking part in the safety cover?

There are a few larger hard boats taking part as control boats and the like but the majority are ribs.
