2nd outing

I'd my virgin launch a few weeks ago at whitby . Really enjoyed it , got the chance of a family day on Saturday and not sure if the seas will be okay for a nearly virgin . Any thoughts

If the sea state is slight and the tides / wind is in your favor - wrap up and enjoy.

It's really great being part of this forum and am learning all the time . Two responses one saying if the wind is slight ???? The other sends me a link that might as well be in Chinese !!!!
Only joking I do appreciate help and may one day understand you lot . So is it likely to be worth a venture or can someone help me understand the link so that I can work it for myself .

Another kind helper sent me a swell map link for whitby last month which I keep an eye on and if I am reading that correctly it seems that it might be a bit rough but Saturday has not altered all week so I don't know if they up date it or not .

Derbyshire about 2 1/2 hours to whitby . Got my eldest home from uni at the moment and she did not make our virgin launch . She goes back that weekend . We could possibly tie it in as she is at Lincoln uni but it might be a bit too much to pull together in one weekend .

Why do you ask .?

There is a separate thread on here you can read. We have around 13 to 14 boats so far. Most are launching from Lymington, I will be launching from Calshot. We will run up the Solent to The Needles, then pop into Yarmouth for Nachos at the Wheatsheaf.

I keep my rib at Calshot, I'm aiming to arrive at Calshot around 0930am, launch around 1015, and will be meeting at couple of other ribs just off Calshot / hamble entrance at 1030. Will then run over to Cowes to meet another rib, then head west up the Solent to The Needles meeting the guys from Lymington en route, getting to the needles around 1130. After around an hour at the needles will head into Yarmouth for Nachos. After lunch will have a blast back to Calshot recovering around 3:00pm. Whole trip will be around 30 nm.

I think if we go anywhere this Saturday we will head down to the Solent . It would be great to meet some of you guys and sponge off your experience . I am not sure I am ready to keep up with you on the run . I have nearly kitted out the boat from the list we got from the power boat course we did but I have not got the radio fitted yet . It has arrived but still in the box . On my virgin launch at whitby I did not get the hang of the garmin so need more practice on it .

We could perhaps launch from lymington and let you boys shoot off whilst we practice and then join you for nachos

Don't worry about holding anyone up, we will cruise at the speed of the slowest craft. What size rib do you have and what size engine?

Lymington is closer to the needles and Yarmouth, so you don't have to cover as much distance. Calshot gives you a longer run on the water.

Ribcraft 4.8 with 50hp. So with lack of experience and four on board might spoil others fun . Could follow on at our pace and meet up

Ooh, nice rib.

Nobody's fun will be spoilt. Nice gentle cruise on the plane and take in the scenery (don't forget to bring a camera). If you need a hand launching there will be people willing to help at both Lymington and Calshot. Just post on the other thread that you are joining us.

Okay think we might venture down . What's the other thread called . Might go from lymington because that is where we are going from at the end of the month so it will be good to familiarise ourselves with it
