I'm not sure if this "posts" feature can count properly!

Looking at members and then find posts I seem to have more posts than is counted by the counter!

Can anyone explain this - I thought to start with it was how many threads you had started, but now I'm confused

This should be my 21st post I think

But I bet that isn't what it says to the side

I reckon seniority should be determined by the QUALITY of the posts, rather than the amount!

I totally agree with Stealth.

John feel free to name me a Junior/New Member for at least a couple of years.

I'll probably change it so everyone is the same*! And turn off the bit that shows the number of posts! People seem to be becoming fixated by it

*Haven't decided what the new title should be though

Oh no! Just as I was over halfway to becoming a SENIOR MEMBER!

It was my only compensation for having the smallest boat on the forum!

John Kennet,

Many of us started as crew members on someone else's boat, or maybe (like me), as self educated /improved by time spent at sea on our own boat.
Since we all have our own boats now, I assume that "skipper" is an adequate term.

Postings etc.

Keep it simple, I always say - how about just plain, 'MEMBERS'?

ps Keith... get a larger RIB, have a look at the Ribtec, first up on 'Used Boats for Sale' on this web-site!

As the FIRST senior member...........

Clearly in my case its both the quality and quantity of posts!

In all serious, I would rather John disabled this feature. I have this worry of him changing the terminology to "Salty old seadog" or something equally worrying!

New Title - surely anyone with 200+ posts must be a "SAD MEMBER".

500+ posts - clearly unemployed.

What do I do ? How do I do whatever it is I should be doing?

Any pointers John ?

Hi there

Stealth said:

ps Keith... get a larger RIB, have a look at the Ribtec, first up on 'Used Boats for Sale' on this web-site!

WHAT! Have you not read the post about GPS? You've no idea how difficult it has been to persuade The Boss to let me spend a couple of weeks food shopping money on the GPS.... and you suggest a new rib!!!

Okay but to be serious (oh, must we?).

I've had my little boat for 12 months now. What fantastic fun I've had pottering about the Moray Firth etc. I have wanted a boat for YEARS, and now I've got one, albeit small. Now, do I want a bigger one? No, I can honestly say, not yet. I'm learning all the time, and thoroughly enjoying it. Expanding my envelope (as it was called in another post 'Inshore'). I don't need a trailer and I enjoy the flexibility of being able to see a nice bay or cove and being able to launch as I please. I don't need a slipway etc. Talking of slipways, take another look at www.boatlaunch.co.uk (most useful boating site on the web, along with Rib Net) you will see that there are suddenly a few more launch sites up in the Scottish Highlands - thanks to your truly, and there will be even more soon.

Now, there will come a time when I move up to our house in Scotland permanently. THEN will be the time to get a bigger boat (please don't mention this to The Boss though) when I can look after it all the time and keep it in the harbour.

Also in the meantime I feel it is my duty to keep my small boat so that there is at least one 'little' voice (great film!) on this forum.

Soon to be Senior Member (Small Boat Section) - Keith Hart

PS I've found out how to do coloured text!
And how to vary the size and font!!

I am consulting with my legal team.......

about the libellous actions of a Mr J Kennett of Brighton.

Still, at least I'm not a hairdresser!

John, Don't even think about it. The thing is to know when to STOP!
