Well who would have believed it but I 'm going to stick up for Jonathan!!
I believe he was saying it is dangerous because of the risk of slipping & not making the jump out & ending up meeting Mr Prop Now this would not be good!
Having said this years ago we did this very thing as a bit of a laugh & as man over board drill Bloody hurts then you get it wrong!
