4 Metre Ribs

Hi all

Looking for some manufacturers of a 4 mtr rib. Don't need to cross the Atlantic on it, just for coastal waters and maybe towing toys. Want a new one and i have a budget of £9500. Cant be bigger as i don't have space for it. Not overly fussed about electronics at the moment.

Thanks in advance

Connor

Yep Avon all the way

Unless you could squeeze in a 4.8m? Then I would go for a nearly new Ribcraft 4.8

For £9k you should get a genius 4M Avon SeaRider with a 40 or 50HP and trailer. For that price you might even find a 4x4 hanging onto the hitch! Should have all the bells and whistles at that.
Lucky man. I'm sure it's just reward.

Last winter i was looking for a similar boat for my local sailing Club, we had a very old Avon SR4 and due to excessive cost of a new one was quoted around 7k we bought a 4m Humber assault around 4k, as a small boat it is fine but the SR4 is leagues above. We still have 1 SR4 left and im going to plead with the committee to let me retube it rather than buy a different 4m.

For 9k you wont be able to buy a new SR4, engine and trailer, unless you find a much better deal than we did. I think you would be talking around 11k for a SR4, new 40hp and trailer. Im sure there are deals out there and hope you find one.

Sorry, I didn't mean a new one........for 9K you will get a fantastic used one though, and it will be one of the best things you ever buy

How about this one:

2008 Avon Searider 4 Meter - Boats.com

I'm sure it's the same rib that Hugo Montgomery-Swan took on the round Scotland 2008 trip?

Avon searider 4m feature.indd

But for this money I would knock down walls and cut down trees to fit a larger boat in and buy a secondhand Avon Searider 4.7 (if you can find one) or a Ribcraft 4.8

SR4 is a good little boat and cheap too.
Ribcraft do a 4m which was apparently designed by the same person as the SR4....

Is your suggestion founded on any experience using this particular craft?

Not for £9k new. I looked at the Ribquest 4.8m when it was still Dave Rose (and based in Sheffield). Quality boat, especially the Orca tubes, stainless-steel work. I've never seen a used Ribquest 4.8 on the market.
