I would rather have a new 150 over a second hand 200 but I guess thats just my way of thinking.
I would love to have one of the big block 200 E-tecs on the back but they do weigh quite a lot more than the small blocks and although the 6.5 could take the weight I think it would not be as well balanced a boat as a result.
Anyway based on your earlier comment "Rogue Wave - great seakeeping not mad about speed, but preferably cruise 30-35knts" I think you would be happy with a 150

From the 2007 etec brochure it appears that the 200 and the 150 both weigh 194kg?

Its the 200HO or high output version its based on the larger 90 degree 3.3litre block used in the 225 and 250

I imagine thAt it be my ignorance but why would you go for a high output 200 over a normal one? Surely this would decrease your top speed becuse isn't ho just a thrust type of sailpower spec type engine?? Or would the acceleration just be so phenomenal that you wouldn't mind?

Yeh go for the 200, your cruising speed will be increased without a noticable drop in fuel consuption. You'd also have plenty of grunt when needed.
Don't know how much VAT you're charged in France but with any savings from the boat purchase, could you not invest in a new outboard?

Chris is the ex spert but I belive it gives you 225 horses on the Etec and while you're at it you want the 220 litre fuel tank to give you maximum range if you go for a Vipermax, no point in having all that grunt if you've got to tow a fuel barge

I would want to go to a 7 meter before fitting the heavier block.

Unfortunatly I cant go above 6.5m! Would the 200ho really unbalance it soo much? It says in the brochure that its 258kg?! The Yami is 270+!!!!!! Can the 6.5 not cope with the extra weight of a modern 2 stroke?!

600 hours use in a commercial environment and still £9,000 seems a bit on the high side to me. I had a quote a couple of months ago when I was considering upgrading to the 200 and it was about £10,500 for a new one.

Of course the 6.5 can cope. However just bear in mind that the difference between Yam and the etec 150 is 80KGs. Thats like having an average built bloke hanging of your transom all the time. Of course it will have an impact on the way the boat rides especially at lower speeds.

Just realised in your post you changed my quote Jim I was referring to the fact that I would rather a new 150 over a used 200.
Thanks !

Yes I have seen atlantis ribs osp[rey dealer and have followed cap breizh for a couple of years now. I think however with the stock exchange as it is, the euro-pound exchange makes a purchase in Britain and bringing over alot more viable!
They dont make the HPDI anymore do they?! It was a mistake in mmy last post, I meant modern 4 stroke... typo!!
Vis a vis hp rating Ill probably go for a 175 or a normal 200, will liase with roy nearer the time!

If you go for a Yam or Soozook 4 stroke, I'd recommend you specify an XL transom (In fact, I'd recommend an XL transom for any motor on a 6.5 Vipermax)

Osprey being a Belgium company i'm not sure they'll being any advantage buying from either France or the UK. Have you considered Solent? I was quite impressed by their 6.5m but then i've never been in an Osprey. The 6.5 is a bit longer than 6.5m however. They're a fair few hanging around Brittany.
Will you be considering fishing and things like that? You'll want tube that touch the water at rest for stability if that is the case.
