And this is the second one
I am told that the first few hours were rather boring and the navigating was done with the assistance of the radar. A good tip for those planning a similar trip. At least one rib should have a radar.
There were no engine issues.

But they've arranged some of the best weather possible ( fog allowing) .
Got the OK to come out to meet them on Sat ( although I can only get to 25 knts - so ask them not to go to fast ) .
Hopefully they will run in along beach past Bournemouth pier etc? ( maybe with mudeford or Poole ILB + Sea Safari + me + boris + any others ? )

Peter, you are correct. One picks a week not the weather like in this case. The Team are very lucky however they have still a fair bit to go.
Only a few days ago I came across a similar 999 Challenge RB by the Manchester Fire Fighters. From Southampton to Southampton. they were very unlucky due to weather and had to take the route via the Caledonian Canal. they dis get involved in a sea rescue of two kayakers . They were first on the scene and took the guys on board just before the RNLI arrived.
I will be seeing the Team on Friday in Littlehampton and will agree a radio channel and tell them to run along the beach past Bournemouth pier

If we leave the Quay at about 1330, I think we should be able to get the Hengisbury Head/Mudeford for about 1400 and then have a gentle run back in with them.
I'm not sure if the guys at RNLI Mudeford are aware of what is going on, but will try to get a message to them via a third party.

Leg 9 Harwich to Littlehampton
The Team will be shortly on their way to Littlehampton. Not far from me so I will pop down to see them in the evening.
So far they have done very well especially since the weather has been on their side. They picked the date not the weather and a good choice it was too.
I lifted the attached photo from their Facebook page. What a shot!

I believe they will as the weather has not caused any delay

I copied this from the Team's facebook page
Challenge fans, just to keep you up to date on challenge details.
We have been made aware, not factual yet but it is believed, that no-one has ever driven a solo Rib around Britain before.
This trip has been done before, but as far as we in know in groups of boats.
We did apply to Guiness World records last night to see if this can be confirmed.
We do have to wait 12 weeks until we hear something.
If any of our fans can put us right either way it would be appreciated.
Fingers crossed that we break a record anyway.
Can anyone comment on this?

I had thought about Mike and Hot Lemon but had to pop the question
as for speed this is not a race and they will manage to do it in the time given. The Parker 750 Baltic is not a racing rib but nevertheless a very capable one indeed
