A confession and some advice please

Had a great afternoon on Windermere, perfect weather etc. The lake is low at the moment so getting the SR back on the trailer was fun.

It wasn't quite central so me and my bro adjusted it manually...

Asked wife to pull forward gently and as i had not attached the strop to the front, it slid gently off the back.

Winched it back on again, all fine, will always double check that in future. Also forgot to tilt the outboard back up again as we pulled it out of the boat space..

When putting the cover back on, i noticed the attached on one of the chines, it looks like some filler has come out.

Advice please on how best to repair

That looks like an old repair that has come out. I had similar on mine (which has also taken an unintended trip down a slip), which i cleaned out to give a good surface to add gelcoat filler (made by plastic padding I think). I built up the layers and sanded flush, then went over with a few coats of flow coat, then sanded back again and polished. Might not be the best method but it is solid and watertight.

Might be wrong but it looks like something more than just a gelcoat filler job in my eyes?

Defo on that
Gel goat is for surface scratches which yours isn't. Needs resin and weave. Not that expensive but worth getting a professional in for it.

Thanks for the replies chaps, i can see a small hole on the left of the filler so assume it goes through. It's a flooding hull.

Any idea of cost please. I can't see a way of getting to the inside of the outer hull.

Luckily it only slid off the trailer and stopped on the beach....

if I were you I'd be asking Edd, Nugent on RIBnet, or Mime Whitham of Whitham Glassfibre to be av'ing a look at it for you, that needs a good sorting before it gets any worse

Thanks Chris, are any of them near Leeds and any rough estimate of cost? ME thinks either i did not notice it when i looked round the boat which is likely as it is on the chine that rests on a bunk or it has started to come off once in the water.

Thanks everyone, you have been stars! Ormskirk is not too far, just about an hour. Are we talking £100s or £1000s do you think?

It's a really tidy boat, perfect for me and didn't cost a lot.

Will ring Mike this morning.

Thanks again everyone.
