A few Ribs ready for the America's Cup World Series

Racing has been on for a couple days; hope to get out to see some over the weekend (although the tides aren't lined for retrieving after the racing). Attachment 135811Click image for larger version

I think however big fans we are of our chosen watercraft ...the safty boat RIBs pale a bit by comparison?
(Although patently there's still nothing better for the Job!)

After seeing some of the Top "Yachts" capable of hitting around 5O knots!! in practice over the months ..coupled with the new Hydro foil tech ect ect..and the fully trained teams working seamlessly in Harmony ...They truly are a wonderous sight to behold in "FULL FLIGHT"!!

Hopefully our Sir Ben and his team will give the Kiwi's and others a good run for their money again this time round

Mind you I must say ....if it WAS just a matter of pure speed.....it certainly IS ALOT..CHEAPER to get there by RIB!

We do aim to please

I agree with the racing, really enjoy the big boy boat racing, not so keen watching the little boats or fleet style racing.

With the Vendee Globe and AC going on Saturday mornings are filled nicely

We watched from beach Saturday and went into the 'village' a coupe of times to watch what the teams were up to. The used the courses most distant from where we launch and given how lkng its been since we've managed to get out in the water we thought we test the boat on a shorter run (plus it meant retreaval on low tide springs....).

The boats are surprisingly small close up and the Ribs are large. Click image for larger version

Nice... I wondered whether I'd spotted an Assault the other day. I wasn't sure whether they were still making them (I assume they are still Gemini based).

I'd not appreciated thst a of the Americas Cup RIBs are paid for by Lotto and go to the Coastguard after the event.

Im not sure, but something of this quality, it doesnt look NZ type RIB. So Im thinking must be somebody like Gemini.

Heck Id be happy with a waverider 600 gemini. All dried up around Xmas here.

I was looking the other day (just to see prices) and there was not one Gemini for sale here. I guess the supply has slowed from the factory?

The first Assaults (10 years ago?) were definitely a Gemini Hull with the superstructure made here.

Same here, just need a longer focal length lens.

Might turn up in a Caribe C12 haha, but whatever gets you out on the water I say.
