A RIB owner (at last)
After three years of tube kicking, I finally just became a RIB owner.
Have dropped a remarkable amount of money on a 3 year old assembly of plastic and air (aka RedBay Stormforce 7.4).
Will be running it out of Roundstone, Co. Galway - mostly for family summer fun.
I’m at the foot of a very steep learning curve. So apologies for all the newbie questions that will inevitably follow.
Paul

Ah: that’s where I tested the RIB. Around Lennon’s Island and into Newport. Unbelievable seascapes.

It’s one metre (and £20k...) more than I was planning but is (I think) perfect for my needs (2 adults, 3 kids, 2 dogs) with 160 hours Suzuki DF250.

I've a 6.5 Stormforce with a 200 on the back and I love her dearly. She lives up around Malin Head and I've never had such confidence in any previous boat. I can only imagine what the 7.4 is like. [emoji173]️

Thanks Pingu. She’s great. Way too expensive....but hoping she’s a ten-year keeper. I’m (slightly obsessively...) having her fully serviced (unnecessarily) before putting her in the water next week.

Redbays are a sought after boat. Especially in this part of the world. I don't see her ever costing you much when you do decide to let her go. As for being obsessive... I spend a solid two hours every time I 'put her to bed' after use. You sound as bad! I must get contact details off you for the day you decide to trade up. [emoji16]

I'm up there every couple of weeks over the summer looking for sharks - must keep an eye out for you. I rarely see a RIB out...

What boat do you have Wilk? If you've a picture handy that'd be good. (any excuse to salivate over another Redbay) [emoji13]

As this is a Redbay Owners Thread (not a Parker Promotions Production) I'll defer to the OP and refer you to the RIBase link in my profile to the left...

No, this is your thread - time for you to get a few photos of your very interesting 7.4m online! Was she coded at P3 in the "Free State " or was she UK coded only?

Dual coded, is all I know Willk. Coding was just a “nice to have” so I didn’t prove it too deeply..

P3 doesn't come lightly, if she had it then it's a very nice box to have ticked. You may want to dispense with some of the liferaft frame steel, but the wee extras will always stand you in good stead. You were right to stretch to 7.4m with the lading list you quoted - wains and dogs. I ran a 6.5m for a few seasons and it would have struggled spacewise. The 7.4m is an absolutely fabulous hull in that configuration. Enjoy!
