Added Security - Drop down post

After reading several of the theft threads on here and indeed other sites I have invested in one of these. It will be a bit of work to install, I recon about 2 - 3 hours. I will put it behind my gate. It should help.

The post arrived on Friday. We plan to fit it today. Here I it is.. Looks good but perhaps I will replace the included padlock as it could be cut off as some of it is exposed.

Finished

There you go whole job from start to finish 2.5 hours and I had bitmac and concrete to break through. It is important to have the correct tools though or the job is horrible..... Used 1.5 bags of postcrete which goes off in about 10 mins so beware

One wonders why you ask but since you did it is just when I get the boats in and out. That is one of two driveways

I was wondering how much of a PITA it would be to use it every day. If it’s just for the boats then it will be less of an inconvenience - make sure you lube it well at the end of the “season” though as if that seizes in the up position you’ll need a decent grinder to get it out!

Good to see your partner getting involved!

Anything we can do to deter thieves is a good thing. At the end if the day, these things are just obstacles, and if it's going to delay or cause noise, then they move on.

Yes that is the way I look at it. Now just got to get a better padlock as the supplied one is ok but not good enough in my view

Yes A chain and padlock..... That is once again only a deterrent as the metal on the gate could be cut through as it is quite thin
