Hi , chaps after a bit of advice . Going to look at jet ski the week is there anywhere I can check online with hin number to see if it's stolen

www.stolenboats.org.uk is a good place to start, although I'm not 100% certain it does jet skis. Good luck!

Do you not register boats (and assorted watercraft) with some government agency?

In the US, we register power boats with the state Dept of Motor Vehicles. A phone call (or several - they're not the most helpful of groups) should get a name of the registered owner, which would go a long ways in determining whether a sale is legitimate.

Nope, no required national registration scheme, or insurance requirement over here.

Datatag tried to create a compulsory scheme for skis 20 years ago with the help of insurance companies and some bodies of water, but it never became a legal requirement.
