I have a little 3.6m rib with 20HP engine and trailer on ebay at the moment starting at 750 with no bids... It is a great boat and I would not be selling except that I have bought a bigger one! ebay item: 181473459040
All the best

Advice for first timer
Hi,
All good advice above and eminently sensible going down the s/h well known brands route. There will be bargains to be had, although rarer at this time of the year, so really depends how quickly you want to get out on the water.
If you are prepared to take a hit on the second hand value then the boat from Jago is certainly cheap. OK it's a Chinese copy (so are lots of middle brands) but it's 3.2m, alumin. floor, inflatable keel, transom rated to 15hp so in keeping with other brands. These appear new on e-bay quite regularly from around £400 and occasionally up to £1000!
Wouldn't feel quite so confident about the engine though, but they are ridiculously cheap. Will be virtually worthless s/h and I personally wouldn't use it on the sea, but not such a problem on inland waters.
I think, if I wanted to get on the water this summer with your budget, I would go with the boat. Engine is a real risk, but if no s/h bargains around, may be worth a punt for strictly inland use only.
In answer to your query above, Tohatsu is a good make, and a decent one will hold it's value. Just an observation but on the older models the throttle is a slider on the body rather than twist grip on tiller - not a problem but not quite as easy to use.
Hope you get something sorted.

With a 3.5 you only need an on/off switch anyway!

Wot he said.
Inflatable is generic chinese made sib, like 100's already in the country with a variety of brand names. Its actually good value for what it is.
However the engine is shocking, truly awful and should be avoided like the plague. They noisy (if they ever start), illegal to buy in UK and just sim0ly horrible little things. Keep your eye on ebay for a used mainstream engine, Yamaha, Mariner, Mercury, Tohatsu, Honda etc.

Couple of thoughts:
- Right now is the worst time to buy a second habnd boat. Wait 'till October / November and the weather gets too manky for most and plenty will appear.
Re. the engine how mechanically minded are you? The potential problem with a used engine is you preobably won't really know what you have bought until you have used it and it either proves itself or dies on you. If you uare OK with servicing stuff then there isn't much to go wrong with a small 2- stroke sdo a "non runner" can sometimes be a good deal - if you know what you are looking at.
(and strictly spreaking that one in your link probably shouldn't be on sale in the EU unless I missed something or they have managed to get a £200 premix2-stroke engine to pass emmissions tests!?)
The thing I found with used boats is that the key to getting what you want is patience.

Just seen this on e-bay.
Only 2.5hp and yes it is a Chinese made outboard but one of the better brands!😎

Hidea are Yamaha clones and in fairness not too bad, a bit noisy, but should come with a 4 year warranty as Yachtshop are Hidea dealers. A massive improvement on the Hangkai.
Resale values are also poor on these though.

Is £250 a good price for a Shand 3.5hp tohatsu?
I've also been offered the same boat as I linked to but shand it has had a repair to the bottom and the transom but its only £75 I thought at this price if it lasts a couple of years I can change it and keep my engine for the new 1.

If it runs and pumps water, £250 for the Tohatsu is a steal. If the boat is £75, you cant really go wrong, its less than a tank of fuel.

I think the 1 I linked to above is potentially a better buy.
Once you start looking in earnest it gets harder to make a decision

Just my thoughts.
The engine you linked to looks in good condition for its age (its old) but if you believe the description then it should be ok as a starter to see if you and your family 'like boating' you should get your money back on it if you decide to sell.
I would wait for the auction to 'run its course' maybe put a bid on now of say £150.00 then 10 seconds before it ends put a bid on it of £250.00 you should 'pick it up abit cheaper, but......if you want to make sure its yours then press the 'buy it now' then start looking for a boat
