Welcome NR,

I don't know about yotties "shooting" you, both Chichester & Langstone harbour launches are equipped with radar guns and they will if you exceed 8knts & 10 knts respectivley.

I have launched from Chichester Marina (£16.50) but it is a drag going down the harbour to the sea. At Northney Marina (£16.00) if the tides right you can go under Hayling Bridge into Langstone Harbour and pop along at 10 knts to the entrance.

I think that some of the members launch from Itchenor but have not done so myself.

Hope this helps

If you want to go as far as Southampton then three good slips are (IMHO)

Camber Docks Old town, Portsmouth
Daedulous slipway, Lee on Solent
Public Slipway Hamble
Public Slipway Itchen, floating bridge road Southampton ( this ones the best)

All of these are free to use

There is also a good book called the good slipway guide which if you do a search is often mentioned in these threads.

If you are in Hamble or Soton and need a hand launching give us a shout as we are nearly always on or by the river/sea

Stuart

You need to have a look at www.boatlaunch.co.uk -- it's got loads of information about launch sites all over the UK.

Dear NR

I would recommend Itchenor and river Itchen sites as I use these regularly.

As someone else said the only "problem" with Itchenor is a long trek to the sea.

If you want to meet up some time please post me.

Try Calshot. Recently refurbished (wide slip rebuilt at cost of £750k). £10 a drop/pull. Straight out into the Solent no tedious speed restrictions. But beware of low tides - trailers seen dropping of the end on occassions!! You'd have thought that would have been thought about at the planning stage!!
