Advice on St Ives Cornwall?

Me the Mrs & the Dog usually try and get to St Ives in Sept and we'd like to take the boat this time, I've spoken to the harbour master and a mooring can be arranged for a week easy enough but from memory all the little roads leading to the harbour are really tight (particularly getting back out) or have i just got my frillys on? Its only a 4m boat but has anybody got experiance of this? i was wondering also if there's a slip nearby we could use as my van doesn't like launching on soft sandy beaches. On the subject i know its a beautiful area in general & we're fairly familiar with it but has anybody got any particular recommendations on places to visit (by boat) or would penzance for example be a better base for short trips out on a small rib? Any suggestions would be appreciated as its new territory for us

Kind regards AL

The harbour totally dries out. You'll be ok with the tight roads with a 4m boat. Beware of the sh*te-hawks, they'll nick your chips.
