Advice on what RIB to buy

Hi All,

I'm new to this forum and I am just after some advice on what rib to purchase. I currently have a 3.9m zar alu 13 sib powered by a 15hp Honda, on a trailer. Initially it was going to be used on lakes and rivers but I now have a caravan seasonal pitch on Anglesey so I am out in the sea often.

My sib is good to use in the sea but I would like something with more power and capability, as it can get a bit choppy around Anglesey. The rib would be mainly used for leisure and exploring around Anglesey. It would need to be able to carry around 4-5 people.

Ideally I would like the rib to have bench seat at the rear, a centre console and a cushioned area at the bow. And I'm looking at a budget of around 7k. I'm not sure if that's a realistic budget or not! I'm not looking for anything brand new, just something that is in good condition or even something which is a smallish project!

Thanks in advance.

Hi

There are quite a few threads on this subject if you put in a search.
The basics are-

Minimum 5m
Engine minimum 50hp
Age for £7000 pre 2010 in good condition.

Strictly IMO your budget’s a bit tight - you need at least 5.5m and preferably 100hp in that part of the world with 4/5 adults on board.

You might get something for about £10k , a really good rig at about 10/15 years old is going to be about £15k, prices are sky high at the moment!

For that budget it will either be old or a project or probably both.

Leisure layouts are pricey but out there good sea keeping and leisure layout and cheap is asking a lot at the moment cheapest Avon 560 I have seen recently was circa £12k and they aren’t loved for Rough seas

Not a recommendation but might be worth looking at if local https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/324273281263
