Advise from ribbuilder regarding hypalon tube attachement

Hi.

I originally started a "build" thread on Iboats, but some "senior" members suggested that I went here for advise from prof builders with some experience on reattaching my tubes to my hull. So here I am.

The thread is her: http://forums.iboats.com/showthread....=1#post1836392 Just scroll to the end for pic´s of the area in question

Short outline, Hull has had one prelim. coat of Polyester resin with pigment, tubes are hypalon and I am gluing with Bostik 2402. Should i sand off all traces of polyester from the "skirt" before gluing the strips back on, or will the polyester be up for the job. (possibly advise on how to judge if the coat is sticking on well enough.)

Best regards
Rasmus

I´d hate to nag, but I sure could use some help on this one!
The weather looks like dry and warm this weekend, so it would be perfect for gluing..

I'm assuming you've used polyester gel coat over the top of the repair so as long as there was a good keyed surface before you applied this you'll only need to abrade it with 60 grit to glue on to.
If you're worried about it for extra strength use a primer layer of glue on the flange using 75/25 ratio of glue/ thinners and leave overnight before doing the repair.
I hope this helps.

Thank you for the reply..
When you say primer of glue/thinner, would i then use a mixture with 75% of my 6:100 hardener/glue blend, and 25% Accetone?

Forgive my ignorance, but i am quite a novice at this.
