WOW, we're motorin'!

And thanks to Fred Dawber of Burlington, Ontario in Canada we can add another US$50 which, by my reckoning, brings the total up to over 3,085 quid. Just a tad more than Keith's light-house cashometer now registers.

By the way, Fred is faxing over his credit card details to my home fax cos he's not too keen to send those all-too-useful digits into cyberspace. Makes sense to me. And if any other non-UK Ribsters would like to do the same they can fax their credit card details over to me on...

+44 1326 270853

...and I will get them straight to Nadia. Just tell me how much you want to contribute in your own currency. I'll check out the official exchange rate and Nadia can bill your card the equivilent in sterling.

Keep it comin', boys and girls. I have a feeling we're going to hit that 10 grand.

I put a plea on the Practical Boat owners forum- I hope it didnt count as spam, there were one or two negative comments, but some favourable as well. I'm just going to phone Nadia now with my (very small) donation, but I'm sure every little bit helps. I'm just a rag and stick woman myself, but having heard from Nick(my brother) about the attempt, i have got a lot of pleasure from following theyre exploits and want it to continue.

So would anybody else like a copy?

Any "donation" will be split between SoC and PoB

See here for the film "reviews"!

Back in 1995, Alan organised a weeks rib cruising to the Channel Isles, for a mixed group of entrepid ribstsers. Some stayed in B&Bs whilst the more hardly souls slept on the ribs. A great week often talked about. So in return for his hard work then, ensuring many of us safely crossed the channel for the first time (and came home again) a donation of £50 to SOC via the SOC shop, hoping they will be able to make it home again too. Best wishes to the team, Pete Rowland

Well, thanks to Jools, phanakapan and Pete7, I reckon we are nudging £3,200.

Pete7's chipped in cos he remembers Alan's generosity and help back in 95. I'm sure there's a lot more of you out there who've had the benefit of Priddy's willingly given know-how along the way. I know I have.

He was my first port of call on signing up for the ribbing way of life and he was unstinting with his help and advice.

Not only did he point me in the right direction to buy my second-hand RIB at a very good price, but he then turned out at 0600 on the 27th December to help me drive it from the Hamble to Falmouth - in a blizzard.

So, come on folks, let's see the colour of your money. We're doing well, but there's 68% of Keith's cashometer still to fill.

08th May - £2,610.00

Grand total so far: £2,910.00

Not bad for just over 24 hrs - and with the postman bringing SOC heaps me soon.

This thread has now had 587 views. Since the 24th March that's only been beaten by Spirit of Cardiff Send Off with 6.786, RIB Groupies (surprise, surprise) with 3,488, and the Trip to the Orkneys, with 638.

587 views in a little over 2 days means there's plenty of you out there checkin' in to see what's going on and why Priddy needs YOUR help. But, as interested as you are, there's a lotta people who are ducking the issue.

Alan Priddy and his crew are doing this round the world record thing for themselves. Perfectly true. And, personally, it has cost them a great deal of money do do it so far. And now they have run outta cash and might fail to achieve a unique goal that really is within their grasp.

Every sport needs its' heros and heroines. We would be very shortsighted if we don't go that short extra mile to help create a hero of our own.

Keep the ball rollin', folks. Write a couple of lines and pledge a few quid. Be part of a legend in the making....

Oooooh, two of those threads were mine!

Anyway I posted my cheque today, the Sonar (got it right this time Charles) will wait another month.

Loved the flashing lighthouse Charles.

Keep us updated with the amount in Nadia and I will update the lighthouse barometer.

Keith (we're almost 1/3 rd of the way there don't stop now) Hart

Nadia,
Just transferred a contribution from me and Laura to Alan's Bank A/C direct. (via the miracle that is First Direct Internet banking!)

Cheers,
Alan

Go on you more than deserve the support, I spend a fortune on RIB's(acording to my wife) so I am sure i can spare some for SOC.

Mine is on its way.
