I'm surprised with the weight that it even floats!

There are a couple of manufacturers that make (or at least used to make) similar boats; ACB (Aluminum Chambered Boats) is one, and there was a New Zealand company that built boats similar to the one offered (can't recall that name of the company at the moment.)
