Pilots Cove, Llandwyn Island, just off Newborough Forrest on the way to Caernarfon, excellent spot for chilling out

there are plenty of other good beaches going either way from your base, but best have a chart to avoid the rocky bits, especially round Rhosnigier as Tony T suggests you can always join the cruise on the 27th, even if only for part of the cruise. don't worry about The Menai, there is loads of space to get thru the straits and its excellent cruising

the lagoon at the skerries is a great place to stop off, though it is 2mile off shore. there is also a nice place just before carmel head (near the skerries) which i think translates as elephant rock - great for stopping for a bbq etc. im based in holyhead bay so pm me if you want a guide.
